The AI Advantage — Issue No. 2
THIS WEEK IN AI
The ChatGPT Ship Is Sinking. Uncle Claude Showed Up With The Life Vest.
If it feels like everyone in your feed is suddenly talking about Claude, you're not imagining it.
After Anthropic refused to allow the Department of Defense to use Claude for mass domestic surveillance or fully autonomous weapons, OpenAI announced its own agreement with the Pentagon hours later. TechCrunch The internet noticed. (shocker.) The number of people announcing they were canceling their ChatGPT accounts and switching to Claude rose exponentially almost overnight. TechRadar
Claude surged to the top of the free app rankings in Apple's U.S. App Store, overtaking ChatGPT. Daily sign-ups hit record highs, free users jumped by more than 60% since January, and paid subscribers more than doubled. TechCrunch
That's not a trend. That's a migration.
But here's the thing nobody is saying out loud (because it doesn't get as many clicks as the politics angle).
The Pentagon situation was the match. But the fire? That was already waiting to be lit.
People weren't just leaving because of politics. They were leaving because Claude is genuinely better, and they finally had a reason to go try it.
Claude actually sounds like a normal human. ChatGPT has become known for agreeing with everything you say (a guaranteed ego boost we say we hate, but secretly love, you've seen the satire posts), over-explaining the obvious, and wrapping every answer in so much fluff you spend twice as long reading than coming up with it on your own.
Honestly? Every time someone tells me they're just going to use ChatGPT to write their website copy, I die a little inside. ChatGPT writes A LOT. And the cadence is just...too perfect. Which is NOT how normal, or good copy is written. More is not always better.
Now if you tell me you're using our Magic AI Website Writer to do it? I will actually do a happy dance. That one we built right, with all our website copywriting strategy baked in.
But it's not just about the writing quality. There's a bigger reason people are making the move and it has everything to do with who's running the ship.
Anthropic is structured as a public benefit corporation, legally required to prioritize positive social impact over shareholder return. That's not a mission statement on a wall. It's baked into the legal structure of the company.
There's also Amanda Askell, known as the "Claude whisperer," whose entire job is making sure Claude doesn't just know the rules but actually understands why being good matters. She's the one in charge of Claude's "soul" (Their words, not ours). And honestly, knowing someone's full-time job is making sure the AI we're handing our business to has real values? That matters to us. (We would love to avoid an I-Robot situation if possible.)
Meanwhile, OpenAI quietly removed the word "safety" from their mission statement last year. Make of that what you will.
Also worth noting for the switchers in the room:
Claude Skills work differently than ChatGPT's custom GPTs. With custom GPTs, you have to decide upfront which specialized assistant to open. Claude decides when to invoke the right skill based on what you're working on. You just work, and Claude figures out the rest.
That alone sold us, months ago.
One fair warning before you jump ship: Claude does have usage limits that reset every five hours rather than daily, and if you burn through them mid-workflow it's a little annoying at first. It's the one area where ChatGPT is more forgiving. But for the quality of output? Worth upgrading your plan, for sure.
Both companies have a $20/month option. We have been using that plan just fine but will likely up it when we start doing more
There's a seat at the Claude table. Pull up a chair.
NOTE: If you have been using a different AI platform and you plan to switch, download or export your memory from your old platform and upload it to Claude. Here is an article to walk you through uploading your memory to Claude.
OPINION
The Courses Are Dead. And Honestly? Good.
There. We said it.
Not "dying." Not "evolving." Dead. At least the version most of us grew up building and buying in 2020.
You know the format. Lesson one through thirty. Watch the video. Download the PDF. Come back next week. Repeat until you either finish or quietly abandon it somewhere around module two (no judgment, we've all done it).
Here's the problem. That format assumed everyone was starting at the same place, needed the same information, and learned the same way. They don't. They never did. We just didn't have another option.
Now we do.
We're already rebuilding our own program, Build a Blissful Business, because of this exact realization. Instead of sending someone through thirty lessons in order, imagine walking into a tool, telling it where you are in your business right now, and having it pull exactly the content you need. No hunting through modules. No sitting through lessons that don't apply to you yet. Just: here's what you need, here's how to do it, go.
Or better yet, the tool asks you a few questions and builds the thing for you entirely.
That's not a course. That's a result.
And the fastest way to build an empire is to get people results. Even faster than before.
The part that shocked us the most: creating something like this doesn't take a developer and a huge budget. (For reference, we spent $65,000 on website development in 2020 for one of our brands.) Had we done it today...Claude could have done it in a week for $20. AI is making it possible for regular business owners to build interactive, personalized experiences without writing a single line of code.
The fitness coach who used to offer a library of workout videos? Soon their clients will log in, say "I have 30 minutes and my lower back is sore," and get a custom workout pulled from that same library. Sure, they could ask Claude to do that for them, but they will still want you because you bring the human energy. And you will likely have more perks for them that Claude can't offer.
The business coach whose intake form used to ask 20 static questions? Now it's a conversation. AI gets to know the client and uses the data to steer them in the right direction, while you're driving the kids to soccer practice. (Because that's what you dreamed about when you pictured having a family.)
Here's what this means for you right now.
You're not behind. Honestly, most people haven't even started thinking about this yet. But 18 months from now this will be the expectation, not the exception. The coaches and service providers who start experimenting today are the ones who will look like geniuses in 2027.
You don't have to build an app this week. But you do have to start getting comfortable with AI now, so that when the tools get even easier (and they will), you're ready to run with them.
That's actually the whole reason we built The AI Advantage. Not to overwhelm you with tech talk. Just to show you, week by week, what's actually possible. Starting with the basics and building from there.
You pulling up a chair yet? There's plenty of room!
HOW TO USE AI THE RIGHT WAY
Before You Do Anything Else In Claude, You Need This.
You've probably heard that you need to give AI information about your brand so it sounds like you. And whoever told you that wasn't lying.
But knowing you need to do it and actually knowing how to do it well are two very different things.
Think about it this way. Imagine you hire someone to write content for your business. They've never read anything you've written. They don't know your tone, your values, your ideal customer, or what makes you different. They're going to make a thousand assumptions and hand you something that's technically fine but completely off-brand with zero personality.
AI is exactly the same. If you're going to use it as a team member, you need to onboard it like a team member.
This is where most solopreneurs get stuck. Because a lot of them have never onboarded anyone before. They don't know what information to give, how to give it, or what questions to ask themselves to pull out the right context. So they give Claude a little and wonder why the output still feels generic.
You can absolutely open Claude and ask it to interview you. It'll ask you questions. But it's going to miss the strategic pieces that actually matter, the ones that pull the right information out of you to get content that doesn't just sound like you, but that makes you more desirable than your competition and brings in clients and customers you LOVE working with.
That's exactly why we built the Brand Brain - Copy edition.
It's the same interview process we take our one-on-one copywriting clients through before we write a single word for them. Every strategic question. Every voice and tone detail. Every piece of your story, your offers, and your ideal client, all captured through a guided conversational interview inside Claude.
At the end of it, Claude spits out five ready-to-upload skill files. Your brand identity. Your voice and tone. Your founder story. Your ideal client. Your offers and positioning. Everything it needs to type up an email or social media post that sounds like you were the first to write it.
Once your skills are inside Claude, it stops writing like a competent stranger and starts writing like a new team member who actually knows your business.
The Brand Brain copy edition is waiting for you in the shop. Or get it free when you join The AI Advantage for $5.55 a month.
THIS WEEK WE USED CLAUDE FOR...
A Running List Of Almost Everything AI Did For Us This Week
Sometimes the best way to show you what's possible is to just show you what's possible. This is not an exhaustive list of what it did, but it will give you an idea of how we used it.
Our Claude AI:
- Wrote social media content. Posts, scripts, even text graphics.
- Built a full slide deck for a live presentation (from my notes and a transcript). Claire was buried in client work, so Claude stepped in. Pretty sure nobody noticed. (Saved us 5 hours and kept us looking professional)
- Coded an entire copywriting tool from scratch that will now make our One-Page Website in a Day® offer incredibly easy to use! (Saved us thousands of dollars and weeks of development, and our customers will LOVE the experience.)
- Created our post-website strategy presentation, the branded client document we deliver after every website strategy session. We uploaded our framework, feedback, and transcripts. Then, because Claude had our brand brain already, it built the document, and the client's response was "This is so good!!! I agree with nearly everything and am so happy to finally know the opportunities on my site. It was like a black box before." (Saved us 1-2 hours while getting us 3 elimination points in her response!)
- Took a full branding call transcript and turned it into a color-coded, organized client document with every decision, every next step, and every outstanding item discussed on the call laid out clearly (saved 2 hours while improving customer experience and preventing us from missing a thing)
- Connected to ClickUp and Gmail to scan all active client projects and build a punch list for our weekly team meeting, so Nicole didn't have to manually put it together herself. (Saved 1-2 hours)
- Brainstorming a new offer and mapping out the plan
- Writing a blog post (Saved 1-2 hours)
- Mocked up a client's website copy inside a design layout so she could see what it would look like live, not just read it on a page (Saved 2-3 hours while increasing customer experience)
- And also acted as a sounding board for The AI Advantage membership model at 4:30 in the morning one night.
Just from what we tracked this week: somewhere between 13 and 16 hours saved. Thousands of dollars in development costs avoided. And a handful of client moments that felt more polished and professional because we had the right tool at the right time.
One team member added, Claude, and he never once complained about us working him to death.
We know we are JUST scratching the surface. More to come on Claude Code and Claude Cowork for us to share as the weeks unfold.
The AI Advantage exists so you can learn this stuff in a way that doesn't make your head spin. Every Sunday, just the relevant tools, skills, and real talk from two business owners who are a few steps ahead, handing you the easy button.
